"L'Idrovolante" is situated on the most ancient quay of Turin. Built in the first half of the XIX century, it's placed between two bridges, the Umberto I and the Princess Isabella, in one of the most charming spots of the Po River.
The restaurant takes inspiration from the former location of Turin flying boat base, right where the quay is, between the two bridges.
From 1926 to 1934, the first flight connections in the history of Italian aviation used to take off from this place.
Seaplanes would fly the route from Turin to Trieste in 3 1/2 hours, with stops in Pavia and Venice.
Today "L'Idrovolante" restaurant is one of the most evocative places in Turin, within walk distance from the Medieval Borough, plunged into the greenery of Valentino Park.
Its cuisine offers Piedmont traditional dishes according to season, barbecues , delicate, light menus for lunch and, on Sundays, the traditional lunch with our countryside dishes.
